The Lagos state police command has arrested Ikechukwu Ogbonna, the celebrity car dealer better known as IVD, over the death of Bimbo, his wife.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement via his Twitter page on Monday evening.

Hundeyin said the 37-year-old has been transferred to the state criminal investigation department (SCID) in Yaba.

The police spokesperson also dismissed claims that the entrepreneur has been “on the run”.

“Contrary to claims by family and friends that 37-year-old Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD is on the run, he has been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba,” he wrote.

IVD has been enmeshed in a series of allegations since his wife’s death.

Mama Jazz, the sister to Bimbo, had accused the Lagos-based businessman of killing her.

Bimbo’s family had earlier claimed the car dealer has been on the run since his wife’s death.

The family also called on appropriate authorities to ensure justice is served in the matter.

“Several times during the course of their marriage, we intervened in a bid to rescue her from a terrible situation that ultimately has now taken her life,” the family had said.

“The perpetrator of this dastardly act, her husband of 16 years, Ikenna Darry! Ogbonna, an auto dealer widely known as IVD, is currently on the run, hoping to evade justice. We know that it won’t be forever.

“As the family tries to come to terms with this terrible loss, we want to appeal to members of the public to join us in demanding that justice is done.”

Concerned citizens in Ogun state on Friday raised an alarm over the inducement of some buyable politicians by PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu.

The insider source revealed that Adebutu, who lost out in the governorship election of last Saturday, has slated a press conference where some people will impersonate the executives of the Ogun State Chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) along with few politicians claiming to be Chairmen of registered political parties, with a promise of N2 million naira each.

The press conference slated for Park Inn Abeokuta, owned by Ladi Adebutu’s father will hold any moment from now.

According to the insider source, “Ladi and his party know they cannot win at the Tribunal because they are quoting a wrong section of the Electoral Act 2022, while ignoring the relevant and applicable section of the law. That is why they are bent on inciting and inducing the public instead of going to the Tribunal”
