To further help women realise their personal and business potentials, Wema Bank Plc again partnered with SheCan Nigeria on a Skills Acquisition Program at Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.
The Skils Acquisition Program, which kicked off on 18 August 2021, came immediately after the SheCan Conference 2021 at Muson Centre Lagos themed “SheCan Do More”.
The program saw over 1,000 women benefit from vocational training exercises designed to equip them with basic skills that could help boost their financial status.
The training included general classes on Business Empowerment, Digital Marketing, Advantages of Effective Marketing, Networking and Product Promotion, to mention a few.
There were also Group Classes that catered to the various entrepreneurial skills. The training included lessons on Waste to Wealth, Bead Making, Hair/Wig Making, Hat Making, Make-up, Catering with a focus on Pastries/Baking. There were also classes in Antiseptic, Petroleum Jelly and Insecticide, production and Olive oil, shampoo, Liquid toilet soap, Air freshener making.
Among the dignitaries at the program were the Keegbo Atikori of Ijebu, Igbo, Alayeluwa Oba Ibitoye Solaja, the Chairman Ijebu North Local Government, Honorable Omobolaji Odusanya among others.
Abiola Nejo, Head of Gender Banking said, “A major takeout from the program was to help every woman realize that she can do more irrespective of her background, gender, education, and career.”
She added that “Wema Bank will continually partner with women-focused initiatives like SheCan Nigeria to empower adolescent girls and women through strategic training, mentoring, counselling, skill acquisition and community empowerment programs
Fidelity Bank Enriches Customers, Holds Second Draw of GAIM 5 Promo
Leading African financial institution, Fidelity Bank PLC, has announced the second set of millionaires in its Get Alert in Millions Season 5 promo (GAIM 5) which held recently in Victoria Island, Lagos.

This month, Fidelity Bank has continued its tradition of rewarding loyal customers which has seen Ajoma Rachel, Stanley Sunday, Musbahu Kabiru, Usman Abdulkadir, John Uchechukwu, Oluwatayo Oladipupo, Esther Eloho, Sophia Sefera, Amarachi Sarah Anyacho, and Obi Chinelo emerge as the next set of millionaires in the promo.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Ken Okpara, Executive Director overseeing the Bank’s Lagos and Southwest Directorate, stated that, “As a bank that places our customers at the centre of everything we do, we are always looking for opportunities to help our customers grow. Also speaking at the event, the Divisional Head, Product Development, Osita Ede stated that: We have earmarked the sum of N125million for total cash rewards this season which we would be giving out in weekly, monthly and grand draws till the campaign ends in July 2022. KPMG Lists Ecobank Nigeria Among Top Five Customer Experience Leaders In Nigeria
KPMG, Nigeria’s Leading audit and professional services company, has ranked Ecobank Nigeria among the top five leading banks in Wholesale (Corporate) Banking in the KPMG Customers’ Experience and Satisfaction Survey. Ecobank moved eight places higher than its 2020 classification, and ranked number five in the 2021 survey of Nigerian banks. The top banks in order of rating include Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, FCMB, Zenith and Ecobank Nigeria.
According to KPMG, Ecobank and other leaders in the segment demonstrated digital banking excellence with higher transaction volumes; adding that they were seen as partners to corporates and also move quickly to address and exceed customer needs. “Our annual banking survey continues to provide an independent platform for banks and other organizations to acquire this outside-in perspective and understand the voice and priorities of Nigerian customers. This year, our results reveal a very competitive landscape in the race for the customer and at the same time, customer feedback that recognizes the effort and innovation of Nigerian banks.” Specifically, it stated that “In the report, we explore, in more detail, key priorities for corporates such as transaction banking support as well as the payments experience for retail customers.”
The KPMG Nigeria Banking Industry Customer Experience Survey has been held annually for the last 15 years with the 2021 edition themed “Changing Customer, Changing Priorities”. The experience survey measures the performance of lenders in the country in terms of their relationship with their account holders and other users of financial services. They are usually rated in three categories – Retail, SME and Wholesale. The 2020 survey covered 15,056 retail customers, 1,856 SMEs and 332 commercial/corporate organisations. Respondents were selected from customers who have interacted with their banks in the last six months.
